Newport Central Catholic junior Sam Krebs has been selected to participate in the Governor’s School for the Arts for musical theatre. The Kentucky Center Governor’s School for the Arts provides hands-on arts opportunities for high school students in the state who are dancers, actors, musicians, creative writers, future architects, or visual artists.
The Governor’s School for the Art’s primary components include a three-week summer residency program at the University of Kentucky, where students will be involved in a rigorous curriculum. The program allows students to develop as an artist and an advocate for the arts.
“We are so proud of Sam, who is among just 515 students who were selected to attend GSA,” Newport Central Catholic Principal Kenny Collopy said. “He is among an even more select group, having been accepted to both the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program and the Governor’s School for the Arts.”
