NKU to honor military community with Green Zone Brigade Takeover Day

Northern Kentucky University will honor its active military and veteran community by providing resources, education, and other activities during the Green Zone Brigade Takeover Day on March 23 from 1 p.m. through 5 p.m. 

The Green Zone Brigade is a group of NKU faculty and staff who are trained in aiding veterans and active military. Green Zone Brigade Takeover Day will include a resource fair where veterans can learn more about Veterans Affairs, Disabled American Veterans, also known as DAV, and NKU Admissions, among other resources.

There will also be an event in the NKU Planetarium with an obstacle course, a performance by the NKU Chorale, and a formal military-style retreat. 

Here is a full list of activities and times: 

  • 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Resource Fair (Welcome Center) 
  • 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Resource Briefing (Welcome Center) 
  • 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Choir Performance (Otto Budig Theater, University Center) 
  • 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. KY National Guard Display (Green Space near Mathematics, Education, and Psychology Center) 
  • 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. SAVE (Suicide Prevention) Training (University Center 135) 
  • 4:10 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Planetarium group 1 (Planetarium, Science Center) 
  • 4:30 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. Planetarium group 2 (Planetarium, Science Center) 
  • 5 p.m. Retreat (Outside Steely Library)
