Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report of a sexual assault that occurred in Burlington by a known suspect on Nov. 1.
The victim reported that Alexander J. Boyd, 28 of Burlington, was with her the night of Oct. 30. That night, the victim took nighttime medicine to get some rest due to not feeling well and reported the medicine incapacitated her.
Days later, the victim found a sexually explicit video sent through text to Boyd’s phone. The video depicts the victim, while incapacitated, receiving sexual contact from Boyd.
Boyd later admitted to making sexual contact with the victim, as well as recording the video but claims the victim was awake and consented. According to detectives, the video refutes Boyd’s claims.
Oct. 31, Boyd and the victim got into an argument over communications that Boyd was having with the victim’s ex-boyfriend. The argument escalated to Boyd grabbing the victim’s arm and shoving her. The shove caused her to fall and later seek medical attention for a possible concussion. The altercation also left the victim with abrasions to her arm and leg.
Detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Boyd. He is charged with one count of Sexual Abuse in the 1st degree and one count of Assault in the 2nd degree, Domestic Violence.
Boyd is currently being held at the Boone County Detention Center. His bond is set at $250,000 cash.
