Florence has marked next week as fall clean-up week, when residents can dispose of unwanted debris, electronics and sensitive documents.

The city typically hosts a free seasonal cleanup to allow residents to throw out unwanted items that may not be appropriate for normal trash pickup.

From Monday, Oct. 10 to Friday, Oct. 14, residents can stop by the Public Services Maintenance Facility, located at 7850 Tanners Lane, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to drop off their unwanted items.

On Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16, residents can visit the maintenance facility between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to drop off their items.

Hazardous waste items will not be accepted. Examples of hazardous waste items include:

  • Tires
  • Non-rechargable batteries
  • Oil
  • Paint (in liquid form)
  • Anti-freeze
  • Insecticides
  • Pesticides
  • Fungicides

Computer and electronic equipment will be accepted by Tri-State Escrap, and confidential documents will be accepted and destroyed by Shred-It.

Those with questions can contact the Florence Public Services Department at (859) 647-5416.
