Saturday marked the first day of the Boone County fair, but Monday kicked off official events, competitions and carnival rides. 

Gate opening times change daily and rides don’t start running until 6 p.m., so guests will need to plan their visit according to the time gates open for admission. Parking is free.

Gate admission includes all rides, grandstand entertainment, parking and other events. Rides go from 6 p.m. until closing, and Saturday, Aug. 13, from 1 p.m. until closing. Admission tickets can be redeemed for ride passes.

Here is a list of all of the fair events this week: 

Tuesday, Aug. 9: Paid admission after 4 p.m.

8 a.m.: 4-H Swine Show, inside the 4-H Livestock Barn

1 p.m.: 4-H Compact Tractor Operators Contest, inside the motorsports arena

6 p.m.: Miss Teen Pageant, in the main show ring 

6:45 p.m.: The Great Rock Race, in the pavilion

7 p.m.: Frog jumping contest, inside the 4-h Livestock Barn

7 p.m.: Western Contest Horse Show, in the lower show ring

7 to 11 p.m.: Live classic rock and contemporary music, featuring Saffire Express, at the entertainment stage

7:15 p.m. Cornhole skills contest, in the pavilion

7:15 p.m. Football toss skills contest, in the pavilion

7:15 p.m.: Disc Golf throwing contest, in the pavilion

7:30 p.m.: Demolition derby, in the motorsports arena

8 p.m.: Miss Boone County Fair beauty pageant, in the main show ring

Wednesday, Aug. 10: Paid admission after 4 p.m. 

8 a.m.: 4-H Rabbit Show, in the 4-H Livestock Barn

9 a.m.: 4-H Horse and Pony Show, in the lower show ring

5 p.m.: 4-H Poultry Show, in the 4-h Livestock Barn

6:45 p.m.: Girls’ Pig Scramble for ages 7 and under, inside the main show ring 

7 p.m.: ATV drag racing, in the motorsports arena

7 to 8:30 p.m.: Live classic country music, featuring Alex Miller, at the entertainment stage

7:30 p.m.: Cowboy Mounted Shooting, in the lower ring

7:30 p.m.: Team Horse Pulling Contest, in the main show ring

9 to 11 p.m.: Live Country and Rock Music with Whiskey Town, entertainment stage

Thursday, Aug. 11: Paid admission after noon

9 a.m.: 4-H Dairy Show, inside the 4-H Livestock Barn

1 p.m.: Boys’ Baby Show, age 2, in the pavilion

1:30 p.m.: Girls’ Baby Show, age 2, in the pavilion

2 p.m.: 4-H Beef Show, in the 4-H Livestock Barn

7 p.m.: Full Throttle Monster Truck Show, in the motorsports arena

7 to 11 p.m.: Live country and variety music show, featuring John Morgen Band, at the entertainment stage
