As the start of school in Northern Kentucky approaches, Kenton County civic organizations are teaming up to collect school supplies for local students.

The Kenton County Police Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 44 is partnering with the Independence Professional Firefighters Local 3945 to host the Cram The Cruiser & Truck School Supply Drive.

The supply drive will take place on Saturday, August 6 outside the Independence Kroger location. Donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.

The supplies will go toward benefitting the Kenton County School District schools that are located in southern Kenton County and Independence.

The two organizations said they are in need of the following items:

  • scissors 
  • erasers 
  • highlighters
  • Crayons
  • pencil boxes
  • glue sticks
  • #2 pencils
  • blue, black and red pens
  • dry erase markers
  • washable markers 
  • 3 ring binders
  • dividers
  • notebooks
  • folders 
  • 3×5 index cards
  • loose leaf paper
  • backpacks
  • tissue boxes
  • paper towels
  • hand sanitizer
