The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is selling off nearly 300 acres of unused land to Boone County.

The resolution to finalize the purchase of 296 acres from the airport will be voted on at the Boone County Fiscal Court’s July 26 meeting. Part of the acreage, and included in the resolution, is England-Idlewild Park, a public park and dog park located in Burlington.

Reports show the Kenton County Airport Board recently signed off on the transaction for more than $1.1 million. The price is determined by Federal Aviation Administration guidelines, which require it to be sold at market value. The property is between Bullitsville Road and Idlewild Drive, east of the CVG airport.

Boone County’s long-range plans include future expansion for the park, which was recently the site of a national disc golf championship.
