Florence residents will want to take a look inside their garage and backyard sheds to see what can be tossed during the city’s Annual Spring Cleanup Week.

Starting Monday, April 25, the City of Florence will accept a number of disposable items at the Public Services Maintenance Facility at 7850 Tanners Lane.

Residents can take confidential documents to be shredded, as well as computer and electronic equipment.

The city will not accept tires, non-rechargeable batteries, oil, paint (in liquid form), antifreeze, pesticides, fungicides, and other hazardous waste. Hazardous waste items have special instructions on the label for disposal, so residents may want to look for these labels before taking them to the facility.

The event is only for Florence residents, so proof of residency will be required at dropoff. The Annual Spring Cleanup Week dropoff times are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Questions can be directed to the City of Florence Public Services Department at (859) 647-5416.
