Two Florence residents involved in a house fire on Thursday, April 14, have been identified. 

As firefighters arrived on scene at 30 Kelley Drive, they saw black smoke coming from every side of the home, according to Florence Fire Chief Rodney Wren.

Firefighters saw Jennifer Collins, age 48, evacuate from the home. A second occupant, Jarred Smith, age 38, was rescued by firefighters and transported to the hospital. The third occupant, who died at the scene, has not yet been identified but the fire department confirmed the victim is a male. 

The fire marks the second fatal house fire in a month in Boone County. 

Assisting on scene were units from Union, Burlington, and Independence fire departments.
