Part of Sixth Street in downtown Covington was shut down Thursday afternoon as police responded to a call about someone with a gun at Mother of God Church.
The Covington landmark was surrounded by police vehicles and officers and the street in front of it was shut down between Russell and Washington streets.
Covington Police told LINK nky that it turned out to be a false call. Someone called the church office and said that they had a gun and were inside the church.
The number was listed as unknown, police said.
No one nearby saw anything and the church secretary did not see anyone on the security cameras, police said.
After a thorough search, the church was turned back over to its staff, police said.
