The Crescent Springs city council passed a resolution at Monday’s city council meeting to build a new firehouse for the Crescent Springs Villa Hills Fire Department.
The Crescent Villa Fire Authority (CVFA) was created through an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) between Crescent Springs and Villa Hills along with the Crescent Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.
“The resolution of the city of Crescent Springs in Kenton County Ky. improving, affirming and ratifying the authority of the Crescent/Villa Fire Authority to accept a bid from Century Construction Inc. (based out of Erlanger) for the CVFA new fire station project and the demolition of the old fire station in an amount not to exceed $8,500,000,” City Attorney Mike Baker said, reading the agenda item.
“Section one of the legislative body of the city of Crescent springs hereby acknowledges, approves and ratifies the action of the CVFA accepting the bid of Century Construction consistent with the RFP issued by the CVFA in the bid response for the demolition of the old fire station, and construction of a new fire station an amount not to exceed $8,500,000,” Baker said.
The resolution passed unanimously by council.
“The project is the largest either city has ever undertaken individually or as a joint project and we are excited to celebrate this achievement together,” the City of Crescent Springs said on its Facebook page.
Crescent Springs Mayor Mike Daugherty signed the forms at Monday night’s meeting and planned to pass them along to the city treasurer, first thing Tuesday morning to get the ball rolling on the project.
“On behalf of the fire department thank you very much,” Fire Chief Jeff Wendt said. “It has been a long, long battle to do this, but thank you.”
A firehouse project status on the Crescent Springs Villa Hills Fire Department website has an approximate timeline for the project to begin construction in March and end construction in September of this year.
There is a groundbreaking at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Crescent Springs Villa Hills Fire Department for the new facility.
