One person is in the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest on Lakeview Drive in Boone County on Saturday.
Around 3:49 p.m. Saturday, a Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the sound of three gunshots in the area of Garden and Lakeview drives, according to a statement from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
At the scene, he found Fernando Pedraza, 28, of Florence, with a chest wound, and the shooter, Fernando Andrade, 27, of Florence.
Deputies on scene performed a chest seal on Pedraza and he was flown by helicopter to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further help. According to the press release, he was conscious during his flight and, as of 6 p.m. Saturday, undergoing surgery.
Andrade told deputies he fired at Pedraza because he came to his home and started damaging his vehicle. The sheriff’s office stated he was detained and is cooperating with the investigation.
As a result, the sheriff’s office determined this was an isolated incident and there is no further danger to the community.
