Newport and other Campbell County police agencies, along with the coroner’s office, were in and out of an Ann Street home in Newport for hours Wednesday but what exactly is being investigated is not clear.
An investigator told LINK nky and other media that no official details would be released until Friday or possibly next week.
Our content-sharing partners at WCPO reported Wednesday night that the coroner said that there were two people dead inside a home.
Police tape blocked off the southern end of the 700 block of Ann Street where it intersects with Eighth Street. Investigators were inside the home at 737 Ann. Two vehicles parked outside the home were towed away.
In a parking lot across the street, grieving family members pressed for answers. Investigators met with them briefly and the crowd dispersed soon after.
An investigator told the media on the scene that police wanted to make sure that family members were fully informed about what happened before releasing information publicly.
