Joshua Baker, a candidate for Kentucky Senate District 24, said he is running to change priorities in Frankfort and ensure communities across Bracken, Campbell, Kenton and Pendleton counties have a stronger voice in state government.

Baker criticized the Republican supermajority’s approach to education funding, health care and tax incentives, citing legislation involving school vouchers, state spending and data centers. He said his opponent has followed party leadership rather than prioritizing the district’s needs.

Baker faces incumbent Republican Shelley Funke Frommeyer in the Nov. 3 general election.

“My first priority after winning in November will be personally meeting with every local government in the district,” Baker said. “Together we will begin to identify how we can best use Frankfort’s resources to solve current issues and craft long-term plans for the future. “

Having grown up in Northern Kentucky and worked in hospitality management, Baker said his experiences have shaped his appreciation for the region and the importance of community collaboration.
