Eric Bunzow is the challenger candidate for the Elsmere mayoral seat. He is set to face incumbent Marty Lenhof in November. A former worker at the Kenton County clerk’s office, Bunzow has also come to be known as the “Elsmere Chicken Man,” due to his lobbying efforts to loosen regulations around owning backyard chickens.
He was also a leading critic of former Elsmere Council Member Serena Owen, who was removed from her seat on council last year and who is now running for the Erlanger-Elsmere Board of Education. Finally, Bunzow has been critical of state administrative agencies, such as the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and was among the community members who came out against a recent proposal to reduce the number of lanes on Dixie Highway.
“I want to ensure that our city continues to grow in a way that protects our neighborhoods, support businesses and provide excellent service to all residents,” Bunzow said.
Bunzow said one will focus on ways to increase government communication with the community, “support growth that benefits residents, invest in infrastructure and public safety, and ensure that every taxpayer receives value from their local government.”
“I will work closely with city staff, community leaders, businesses and residents to identify immediate needs and establish a clear plan for maintaining public safety, supporting economic development and managing taxpayer dollars wisely,” Bunzow said.
