Candidate for: Campbell County Commissioner District 1
Party: Republican
Status: Challenger
Lifelong Campbell County resident and small business owner Dave Fischer is running for Campbell County Commissioner District 1.
Fischer said he is committed to ensuring the county is served in the best way, as “an inclusive county and not an exclusive club.”
Fischer will face incumbent Brian Painter in the May primary.
He said he will strive to make Campbell County government more transparent and inclusive by pushing for accountability and clarity on expenditures, and not just spend the money because it is there. Fischer said he will also advocate for fairness in everything, which he has demonstrated by putting an end to electioneering in the county.

As commissioner (and owner of multiple properties in Campbell County), Fischer said he will work to stop property owners from being taxed twice, once by PVA increases and again by the fiscal court. He said historically, the maximum 4% increase has been approved every year and over the past decade, taxes have steadily increased to the point that the county is the highest-taxed county in the state.
Fischer said he has a vested interest in keeping county taxes manageable without cutting services and, as such, will be a steward of our county’s funds.
Fischer said he solves issues rather than being satisfied with the status quo.

“Why do we not have county-sponsored swim lessons, splash pads, or a boat ramp in South County?” Fischer said. “Perhaps there are obstacles, but let’s work together to ensure that Campbell County is the best place for all.”
As county commissioner, Fischer said he will work with all 16 cities on collaborative projects.
“As commissioner, I will not succumb to the ‘comfort zone’ mentality,” Fischer said. “As the former Vice Chair of the Campbell County Republican Party, I gave everyone a voice and was not afraid to ‘rock the boat’ when necessary for the greater good. I need your vote to continue that legacy.”
