Status: Incumbent

Campbell County Commissioner Brian Painter, who first took office in 2010, is running for reelection for district one.

Painter has a Bachelor of Science degree from NKU and a Master of Science degree from Ohio University. He worked to clean up contaminated sites, including superfund sites, in 13 of the 50 states. Painter also owned and operated the small business, Vineyard Hardwoods, in Campbell County from 2003 to 2017.

Brian and his wife, Sulinda, are members of First Baptist Church in Cold Spring.

Painter will face a Republican primary against Dave Fischer in May.

During his time in office, Painter lists some of his accomplishments as:

  • For five years in a row, Painter said he has helped lower tax rates.
  • To help local jobs grow, the net profits tax on businesses and sole proprietorships was completely eliminated.
  • Families can now visit county parks for free. The fees for daily and seasonal passes have been removed.
  • Dog licenses are now free, and a new online system makes registration easy.
  • The county is building a new, modern center for the police department, emergency management, and 911 dispatch to keep help just a call away.
  • Painter, with the fiscal court, partnered with schools to split the cost of school resource officers, keeping kids safe in the classroom.
  • By working with the community, Painter said the county helped drop fatal overdoses from 54 in 2020 to 10 in 2024.
  • The county has worked to bring high-speed fiber internet to every single home.
  • A $10 million project is fixing the lake and spillway at AJ Jolly Park.
  • The water system now reaches 98% of the county, bringing clean water to more families than ever before.
