Florence Mayor Julie Metzger Aubuchon announced her intent to run for re-election on Wednesday.
“I love my hometown, and I love leading our dedicated city team who work tirelessly to serve our residents, the vital Florence business community and visitors who want to see exactly what it means to be nationally recognized as the home of the Florence Y’All water tower,” Aubuchon said in a release sent to LINK nky.
Candidates won’t be able to officially file to run with county clerks’ offices until November, but any candidate who wishes to raise or spend more than $5,000 during an election has to file with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance, which Aubuchon did on Aug. 19. Filing with the registry is usually taken as a signal a candidate plans to run officially in the future.
Aubuchon was first elected Florence mayor in 2022. Before that, she served on city council since 1999. Aubuchon owns Vision Consultants, an eye care consulting service.
Aubuchon said she is pleased with the city’s progress in her first two years in office and that she is excited about seeing the parks master plan be implemented in the coming years.
