The Kenton County Election Commission met Monday to discuss details for the preparation of the upcoming Nov. 7 general election.
County Clerk Gabrielle Summe noted her staff is still working to find enough poll workers. Some poll workers whose names were on lists provided by the two parties have said they are unavailable for the upcoming election. Others have not yet responded. At present, this leaves a need for about 18 more poll workers, she said.
Those interested in becoming a poll worker for this or future elections can contact her office at 859-392-1640. The office can provide a list of poll jobs and further information. Poll workers are required to attend a two-hour in-person training as well as take online ADA training.
The commission members discussed dates and times for poll worker trainings. They received updates on equipment programming deadlines, details on voter registration and deadlines for write-in candidates, as well as updates on media outreach and advertising. They also discussed the final details of the security plan for election day.
Summe noted a change to the Kentucky Voter Guide website URL. People can still access the guide by using the old web address (govoteky.com) but will be redirected to the new web address. The new Kentucky Voter Guide website is at govote.ky.gov. (Note the new URL contains a dot in two places.)
The deadline for voter registration is coming up soon – Oct. 10, 2023, at 4 p.m. is the deadline to register for the Nov. 7 election.
