There are ten candidates competing for four seats on the Newport city commission. Eight of them will advance from the May 17 to the general election in November where four will be elected.

Two of the incumbent members of the commission are not seeking reelection, while two others are.

LINK nky was joined by seven of the ten candidates for a live forum: incumbent Ken Rechtin and challengers David Capella, Ed Davis, Gordon Henry, Rich Livingood, Mike Radwanski, and Julie Smith-Morrow. Incumbent Beth Fennell and challenger Steve Megerle could not join the forum, and candidate John Santini could not be reached.
