The following op-ed is written by Mirna Eads, a candidate in the Republican primary for House District 68
I am running for state representative for District 68 which includes Fort Thomas, Cold Springs, Highland Heights, Alexandria, Silver Grove, California, Melbourne and Camp Springs.
I live in Fort Thomas. I am a nurse and a mother of two adult children. I am just a hard working tax-paying citizen just like you and I once trusted those I elected into office to be my voice and represent us but that isn’t happening and we are seeing more and more corruption in politics. There are too many career politicians who have lost what they once stood for.
Running for office was never in the plans. I always thought you had to have a degree in political science or law, but in 2016 we saw a businessman step up and soon other citizens also stepped up for positions in the Senate and the House.
More and more are stepping up and the “establishment, the career politicians” are mad and trying everything to silence them and have them removed.
Now more of us patriots are stepping up to join forces and fight back. I am not a politician and don’t aspire to be one.
I am just a servant to the people who elect me and I will always defend our God-given rights and freedoms that so many have fought and died for to keep America free. I will fight for the rights of the unborn, repeal the certificate of need, protect our Second Amendment rights, fight to lower taxes, end wasteful government spending, hold committees and departments accountable for their budgets. No more lockdowns and ridiculous mandates. I am 100% for medical freedom. Our churches will never close again while big box chain stores and bars stay open. The education of our children will be focused on the basics – reading, writing, math with financial literacy, bring back cursive and teach history without leaving out what makes some uncomfortable. End the teaching of Critical Race Theory and Social Emotional Learning. Parents teach their children about sexuality not the schools.
I will always be transparent and want to be held accountable for the decisions I make. I am not for sale and any donor who expects a favor from me in the future will be written a check for their exact donation and told, “I don’t owe you a thing. I work for the people,” not the chamber of commerce, big corporations, developers and those with an alternative agenda to fatten their pockets. I represent the people.
I am a woman of action not just words and you can count on me to always represent you, uphold the constitution and obey the laws.
Please vote Mirna Eads on May 17th
