Covington’s Behringer-Crawford Museum is hosting a presentation by a local historian about the life and impact of the late U.S. Congressman Brent Spence.
Local historian Karl Lietzenmayer of the Kenton County Historical Society will discuss the life and legacy of former U.S. Rep. Brent Spence during the next NKY History Hour, a free virtual program presented by Behringer-Crawford Museum on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 6:30 p.m. The presentation also will be livestreamed on the Behringer-Crawford Museum’s Facebook page.
The presentation, “Congressman Brent Spence: His Family and His Legacy,” will take a look at the notable Northern Kentuckian’s life. Spence, a Democrat born in Newport, spent over 30 years representing Northern Kentucky in Congress.
Locally, Spence is best known as the namesake of the Brent Spence Bridge, which connects Kentucky and Ohio across the Ohio River along Interstates 71 and 75. The bridge is a key part of the extensive Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project, an over $3 billion effort that involves building a new companion bridge across the Ohio River next to the existing Brent Spence Bridge.
