The City of Florence is looking for artists to create permanent public installations at Florence Nature Park.

Enhancing the park, located at 7200 Nature Park Drive, is part of an ongoing effort from the city to beautify public spaces through art. Selected artwork will be installed at one of the locations identified in the Florence Nature Park Sculpture Art Master Plan, which was recently adopted by the city.

Request for proposals will be available starting July 16. Artists and artist-led teams may request a copy of the RFP from the city, with proposals due by the Aug. 12 opening date. Applicants will be asked to submit a conceptual design, fabrication plan, installation methodology and project budget. Cincinnati’s ArtsWave is set to help the city administer the RFP process, communicate with applicants, and participate in the evaluation process.

“Public art has the power to create memorable places, inspire creativity, and strengthen community pride,” Mayor Julie Aubuchon said in a news release. “We are excited to welcome artists who can bring a unique vision to Florence Nature Park and create a lasting destination for residents and visitors to enjoy.”

While artists from across the country can apply, the city is strongly encouraging submissions from those in Greater Cincinnati. Preference will be given to proposals that showcase a connection to the Florence community and highlight the natural character of Florence Nature Park.

Artists interested in applying or requesting an RFP starting July 16 can contact the Florence Administration Department at (859) 647-8177.
