A public open house about the new permanent location of the Covington Farmers Market has been rescheduled from Thursday of this week to Monday, July 13, from 4 to 6 p.m., according to a Tuesday announcement from the city.

A location for the meeting has not yet been determined.

The Covington Board of Commissioners will vote on a purchase agreement to buy up the property on which the new market is slated to sit, located on 257 Pike Street, on Tuesday night. The land is near John G. Carlisle Elementary School and is currently owned by the school district.

“This development opportunity represents a significant possibility for community collaboration and investment along one of Covington’s key corridors,” City Manager Sharmili Reddy said. “We encourage residents to attend the open house and share their ideas as we work together to shape the future of this important property.”

Feedback provided from residents at the meeting will inform the market’s future development plans. The location of the open house will be announced in the coming weeks.
