The Covington Parks & Recreation Department will host a youth fishing derby at Prisoners Lake in Devou Park on Saturday, May 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“This event is a great opportunity for kids and families to learn new skills and spend time outdoors together in one of Covington’s most beautiful parks,” Parks & Recreation Manager Greg Stacy said.
The event is free and open to kids of all experience levels. Bait will be provided, and poles will be available to borrow if a parent or guardian presents their ID.
Contest categories include smallest fish, longest fish, heaviest fish and most caught fish. All fish will be released upon being caught. Registration is not required, but participating families are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to set up.
