Covington residents now know when they can freely recycle their live Christmas trees after this year’s holiday season.
Called the Annual Natural Christmas Tree Collection & Recycling Event, the event gives the opportunity for Covington residents to mulch their live Christmas trees free of charge from Dec. 26 to Jan. 19 at select locations with the help of Covington’s Public Works Solid Waste & Recycling Division and Urban Forestry Division. Rumpke customers can also schedule a curbside tree pick up between Jan. 5 and Jan. 19.
The following locations will serve as drop-off dates between Dec. 26 and Jan. 19:
- Devou Park – Urban Forestry Garage at 1700 Montague RoadÂ
- Scribble Park – North side of flood wall, west side of parking lot under the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge
- South Covington – Parking lot off Tripoli and Hands Pike, adjacent to Neighborhood ParkÂ
To schedule a Rumpke curbside pickup between Jan. 5 and Jan. 19, call 1-800-828-8171. Pickups must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance.
Finally, trees must be properly prepared before disposal: All ornaments, lights, tinsel and any other decorations should be removed, and trees taller than 6 feet must be cut in half. Do not place trees in plastic bags. Artificial trees will not be accepted.
Questions should be directed to the Covington Solid Waste & Recycling Division at 859-292-4417.
