Monday marks Memorial Day, and in honor and respect of those who served in the military and are now deceased, several parades and events are being held around Northern Kentucky.

Covington
Covington will host several Memorial Day events on Monday. Activities begin with morning ceremonies at various memorials starting at 7 a.m., including prayers, wreath placements, a 21-gun salute, and “Taps.” At 2 p.m., the annual parade will start at Holmes High School and end at Historic Linden Grove Cemetery & Arboretum, where a memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Speakers include commissioner James Toebbe, Mayor Ron Washington and grand marshal Sgt. Florence
Florence is hosting a Memorial Day Parade and Program, beginning at 10 a.m. Monday. The parade will go from Boone County High School to the Florence Government Center. Following the parade, a Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at the Boone County Veterans Memorial at the Florence Government Center. Find more information here.
Independence
The Independence American Legion, Moon Brothers Post 275, is hosting the 2025 Memorial Day Parade to honor fallen service members starting at 10:30 a.m. The parade will line up from 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Delaware Crossing near the Community & Senior Center. It will proceed north on Madison Pike, with stops at Independence Cemetery and St. Cecilia, ending on McCullum Pike. Final honors and a brief address will be held at the Courthouse Memorial. Park Hills
The Park Hills Civic Association will host its 2025 Memorial Day Parade and Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday at 11:30 a.m., rain or shine. The parade route begins at Dixie Highway near Notre Dame Academy and proceeds through Arlington, Old State Road, Terrace Drive, Amsterdam Road and Park Drive. Participation is free and open to all—walkers, decorated vehicles, youth groups and more. This year’s Grand Marshal is longtime resident and community leader David Schlothauer, who has led the event since 1975. A food court featuring local favorites like Skyline Chili, Braxton Brewing Co. and Kona Ice will operate from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. along Park Drive.
