Campbell County residents have a resource at their fingertips that helps them stay informed about local government decisions, community events and offers media tools for public use.

Campbell Media is a service of the Campbell County Cable Board, which serves 11 cities in the county—Highland Heights, Alexandria, Bellevue, Southgate, Wilder, Silver Grove, Melbourne, Crestview, Woodlawn, California, Mentor and the fiscal court serving the unincorporated county.

Executive Director Campbell Media Jennifer Teipel has been with the company for 25 years. On Oct. 29, she gave a presentation about the company at the Campbell County Mayor’s meeting.

Campbell Media is located at 10 Hilltop Road in Highland Heights. Its media center has a fully equipped studio, control room and editing bays available for use by residents and organizations within its service area. Additionally, it offers portable equipment for checkout, including video cameras, tripods, audio gear and lighting.

They also provide personalized workshops by appointment, covering the operation of their equipment and editing and graphics software instruction. Each workshop provides hands-on training to ensure confidence in media production.

If the public is using Campbell Media’s equipment, it may not be used for profit-making activities, and all projects should result in a final product suitable for broadcast on its media outlets.

If you have ever attended a government meeting in a city within Campbell Media’s service areas, then you probably noticed someone standing behind a camera in the back of the room.

Campbell Media records everything from council meetings and planning and zoning meetings to Sanitation District 1 meetings on its government channel. Residents can find those recordings on its website, which has archives back through 2013.

“I’ll comment too on just the professionalism of your crew,” Highland Heights Mayor Greg Meyers said during the meeting. They come out, film everything you’d like to have, and we do put it out there on our website. Very professional, always willing to go over and above for all of our events with the children, the adults, the breakfast we have for the veterans. So, you’ve done a nice job. We’re very happy with the service.”

Teipel said Campbell Media ensures its content is accessible wherever audiences consume media.

They have a franchise agreement with altafiber and Charter/Spectrum; residents with those services can watch live meetings. Campbell Media can also be watched live through the Screenweave app on Fire TV and is available on Roku and Apple TV. Residents without those services can watch meetings live on the Campbell Media website.

The company also has chapter markers on their recorded videos based on the meeting agenda, so if a resident is interested in one agenda item, they can click on the marker and go straight to that part of the video.

“We also cover a lot of community events,” Teipel said. “We are committed to connecting and engaging with the Campbell County community through diverse and impactful programming beyond our gavel-to-gavel coverage of local government meetings.”

Residents can watch recent events on its platform, including the Bellevue City Council candidate forum, the AJ Jolly Spooktacular event and Campbell County football games. Campbell Media’s event coverage can be found here.

“We take advantage of what they offer all the time, and they do a fabulous job for us,” Bellevue Mayor Charlie Cleves said during the meeting. “It’s either once or twice a month we have a really big event that they’re helping us, and it helps us to promote it next year too.”

Campbell Media also offers internship opportunities for college and high school students, providing hands-on experience in media and communications. With its media center located near Northern Kentucky University, Campbell Media collaborates with the NKU Electronic Media Department to provide students with internships and potential job opportunities. They also welcome interns from other higher education institutions, helping students gain skills and industry insights in a professional media environment.
