The after-school program at New Haven Elementary, administered by nonprofit Learning Grove, celebrated the 25th annual ‘Lights on Afterschool’ showcase event on Wednesday.
The nationwide celebration was put on by the Afterschool Alliance, a nonprofit that advocates for investment in after-school programs. More than 8,000 such events are taking place throughout the country this week.
“For every one child in an after-school program in the United States, four more are waiting to get in,” said Learning Grove CEO Shannon Starkey-Taylor. “Learning Grove will be there, lights on, for Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati students as long as we are needed, and we’ll be more than a safe and welcoming environment – we’ll continue delivering the top-tier educational and enrichment opportunities that these students deserve to continue building their skills.”
The event showcased the sorts of projects students work in the program, including STEM activities, robotics and other projects.
