The City of Covington voted to allocate $60,000 to the Carnegie Arts Center, a theater and arts organization in Covington, on Tuesday.

The money aims to “support [The Carnegie] as a community building creative outlet which benefits the public at large, thus serving a public purpose,” according to the language of the municipal order establishing the allocation.

Specifically, $50,000 will be allocated for energy bill reimbursement, and the remaining $10,000 will be allocated for general operating expenses.

The vote follows several months of contract negotiations.
