The city of Fort Thomas will celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday on Wednesday, July 31, starting at 3 p.m. at the Fort Thomas Mess Hall.
The celebration of the popular fictional character’s birthday will feature a photo booth, a Hogwarts house ‘sorting’ ceremony, Harry Potter trivia, birthday cake/ food trucks, live animals and reptiles and the showing of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” in the Tower Park Amphitheatre at dusk.
Attendees also have the opportunity to win a one-of-a-kind Nimbus Carving Edition broomstick made by CR Carving. To enter, you must take a picture of yourself with one of Chris Rusts’ newest carvings in Tower Park, “Pick Me!” a 6-foot-tall hand located at Tower Park shelter 3 (near the basketball and volleyball courts.) Show Rust the photo to receive one ticket to enter.
“The broomstick was carved and crafted with very special materials,” Rust said. “The handle was formed from solid walnut that was grown in the lush, rich soil of the Camp Springs region. This gave the handle added sturdiness to carve through the thickest of atmosphere. The bristles were harvested from the fields of the Midwest tornado alley. There they absorbed the cyclonic winds that enhanced their strength. The gold and silver binding was spun from the silver and gold linings of the most darkest and fierce clouds. This allows for the optimal handling.”
