Bellevue pranks citizens with helicopter. Photo provided | Bellevue Police Department

It’s April 1, and in case you forgot, that means it’s April Fools Day.

The Bellevue Police Department is joining in on the holiday with a practical joke: telling its citizens the department acquired a helicopter.

In a Facebook post, the department said its use will primarily be “for identifying parking violations throughout the city, especially those violators parked more than 6 inches from the curb, and those blocking fire hydrants.”

The post even features a helicopter photoshopped into the city building’s parking lot, and promises to revive the Cincinnati tradition of the WKRP Turkey drop, using the helicopter.

The post ends with, “We hope to have our permit for this turned into the ASPCA this week!” The ASPCA is the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
