The Alexandria City Council recognized Dale Reid, a World War II veteran turning 100 at its meeting Thursday night.
Alexandria named March 29, 2024, as Dale Reid Day in the city.
“I’m very appreciative of this, this was very nice for me,” Reid said. “I will continue helping you anytime I can.”
During the meeting, it was said that Reid was present at the signing of the Japanese surrender on Sept. 2, 1945.
