It was a day to remember at the Fort Thomas Florist and Greenhouses for worker Joyce Workman.
Workman lost her mother’s ring a few weeks ago, and it turned up on Friday in a poinsettia and was given back to her in a surprise that was caught on video by her coworkers.
Mike Brooks with Fort Thomas Florist and Greenhouse said Workman wears the ring every day.
He said Workman, who does the shop’s potting and planting, had just planted something for a cemetery, and they thought maybe she lost it in the soil.
“We called the family, went to the cemetery, we had to let it thaw out, then we dug it out, and it wasn’t in there,” Brooks said. “She said to me, ‘I’m praying to St. Anthony, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.'”
Then Brooks received a call from someone the shop had just sold poinsettias to that had found a gold ring in one of the plants.
“I think I said, ‘You’re sh*tting me. No way,'” Brooks said.
In the video, the person who found the ring said in the video that Workman was having a bad month. “Miracles work in funny, funny ways,” he said while pulling the ring out of his pocket to reveal the found treasure to Workman as the room erupts with clapping.
“She is just like the sweetest, nicest person, and to make something like that happen for her was pretty sweet,” Brooks said.
