New monument dedicated to Gold Star families soon to be unveiled

A new monument will soon be unveiled and dedicated to Gold Star families in Williamstown. 

Set to be revealed in the Williamstown Veterans Cemetery North on Eibeck Lane, the monument is dedicated to families who have lost loved ones in the Armed Forces. It is black granite with two inscriptions describing who the monument is for and why it was created. 

The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 13, at 11 a.m. The ceremony is open to the public and will host Hershel “Woody” Williams, a WWII Medal of Honor recipient, as a key speaker. 

The monument itself is made possible by the Williamstown Gold Star Families Memorial Monument Committee, in conjunction with the Woody Williams Foundation and the Williamstown Veteran Cemetery North. 

The dedication ceremony and unveiling of the memorial is scheduled for Friday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at Williamstown Veteran Cemetery North, located at 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, Ky.
