One of the tri-state’s most marquee events is back. Cincinnati’s famous Flying Pig Marathon will take place from April 29 to May 1. The 24th Annual Flying Pig will feature an expected 30,000 participants from 47 out of 50 US states and 15 countries.
The Flying Pig was first run in 1999 after being conceived by Paycor founder Bob Coughlin and other local runners after drawing the concept on a cocktail napkin at O’Bryon’s after a training session. The Flying Pig Marathon, a non-profit, will help over 300 charities raise more than $1 million this year. The marathon has an annual economic impact of $14 million according to a study by Xavier University.
In the Flying Pig Marathon’s “Race Week Notes,” three Northern Kentucky runners were highlighted in the Runners to Watch category for the upcoming races.
