Boone County will soon dedicate the Vietnam Veterans Memorial as it is relocated to downtown Burlington.
The memorial was moved to storage during road construction at the Veterans Way and Burlington Pike intersection. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was previously located in Boone Woods Park, but its new location would place the monument in a more prominent location in the downtown area.Â
Originally dedicated in 1986, the light gray granite memorial lists the veterans of Boone County who were killed during their service in Vietnam. The new location will place the memorial at the northwest corner of Burlington Commons plaza, where people may pay their respects to the fallen soldiers.
The ceremony is open to the public and will be held at 4 p.m. in Burlington Commons on Tuesday, April 26.
