A new high-frequency corridor will connect more people to jobs, entertainment, shopping and community destinations across Newport, Covington and downtown Cincinnati.
Getting where you need to go should be simple and convenient. Starting November 7, TANK is strengthening connections across the region by increasing service frequency on key local routes, giving riders more opportunities to get where they need to go with less time spent waiting.
As part of this improvement, TANK will retire the Southbank Shuttle and reallocate resources to create a new high-frequency corridor connecting downtown Newport, Covington and downtown Cincinnati. Rather than replacing the shuttle with one singular route, the new approach builds on existing TANK services to provide more frequent connections across the region.
More Frequent Service. More Places to Go.
The improved corridor brings together Route 1, interlined Routes 3/12 and interlined Routes 7/25. Depending on the route and segment, buses will arrive every 7–8 minutes, with service every 15 minutes in other areas served by Route 1 and interlined Routes 7/25.
For riders, more frequent service means greater flexibility and easier access to the destinations that make Northern Kentucky and downtown Cincinnati vibrant places to live, work and visit.
In Covington, riders can access the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, Madison Avenue District and Roebling Point. In Newport, connections include Newport on the Levee, the Monmouth Street District, Newport Plaza and Newport Shopping Center. And in downtown Cincinnati, riders can reach Fountain Square, Paycor Stadium, Great American Ballpark, Taft Theatre and the Aronoff Center.
Whether commuting to work, catching a game, shopping locally or enjoying a night out, frequent transit makes it easier to experience more of the region.
Connecting More People to Opportunity
The benefits extend beyond shorter waits. TANK’s new high-frequency corridor will make frequent transit service accessible to twice as many people and jobs in Covington and Newport compared with its previous network.
By investing in service where it can make the greatest impact, TANK is expanding access to employment, entertainment, shopping and essential services while supporting a more connected regional community.
Transit is about more than getting from one stop to another. It’s about connecting people to opportunities and making it easier to experience everything our communities have to offer.
