Through Gateway’s Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training Program, students can earn their Class A or Class B CDL and step directly into essential roles across the region’s transportation network.

Fast-Track Training in Just 4 Weeks
Gateway’s CDL program prepares students for entry-level commercial driving positions in just four weeks. With classes running Monday through Friday (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and starting twice every month, students can turn a career goal into reality in a matter of weeks.

Flexible Evening Options for Working Adults
Balancing work or family commitments shouldn’t stand in the way of a fulfilling career. To meet students where they are, Gateway offers dedicated evening CDL classes held at the Transportation and Technology Center (TTC) in Fort Wright. The flexible schedules allow working adults to complete their training without disrupting daytime obligations.

Comprehensive, Hands-On Instruction
Gateway’s CDL training is designed for individuals with little to no prior commercial driving experience. Taught by credentialed, experienced industry professionals, the all-inclusive curriculum covers:

  • Classroom instruction, map reading, trip planning, and federal regulations.
  • Range and road driving instruction using Gateway’s training vehicles.
  • Required Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals and drug screenings.
  • Preparation and testing for the Kentucky CDL Class A or Class B road test (administered directly upon course completion).

Affordable Pathways & Financial Support
Investing in a CDL provides an immediate return in career opportunities. Gateway’s straightforward tuition model covers classroom time, range instruction, DOT physicals, and drug screenings. Eligible students can explore financial support through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) via the Kentucky Career Center, helping offset training costs.
