The Scurry celebrates 14 years of fundraising for local mental health initiatives.
Every year, more than one in five people experience a mental illness, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Covington-based consulting company TiER1 Performance is committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness and encouraging conversations about mental health in the community. One way it honors this commitment is by hosting The Scurry, a unique annual fundraiser that benefits local organizations that provide mental health services.
The Scurry is an Amazing Race-style event, hosted on Friday, May 16. It consists of a three-hour team competition in which participants race around Covington and complete activities at different stops. Activities include Jazzercise at Neighborhood Barre, knocking down cans with rubber bands at West Sixth Brewing Company, a basketball competition at First District Gym, and more.
Several organizations are joining the fun this year, with Scurry teams represented from Culinary Services Group, STEP CG, Rockefeller, Vision Print Group, Link NKY, and Craftsman Electric, to name a few. Participating teams are eligible to win an award if they raise the most money for the cause. If you know a team participating and would like to donate to help them win, visit https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=yFcjhuqd7E-F-kGgqU2ltLKbR4yH1LhBp1Gybi705NdURTQyWEtTT0hRRE40WDRVVzlOMFRMN1pPQi4u.
The event concludes with an awards ceremony, raffle drawing, and celebration at Covington Yard at 4 pm. Community members do not need to participate in the team competition to attend the after party—all are invited to attend and celebrate mental health initiatives in the region!
Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Lindner Center of HOPE, Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky, and the Adapt for Life program at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. These organizations offer community members of all ages a wide range of mental health support, including how to navigate mental illness, addiction, abuse, trauma, and suicidal behavior.
TiER1 invites the entire community to join in this incredible partnership of organizations and individuals. Since its launch in 2010, The Scurry has raised more than $450,000 for local community efforts. Whether you participate in the team competition, sponsor the event, attend the after party, or donate to the cause, every form of support is appreciated and makes an impact.
