Walt Disney World’s Epcot is home to World Showcase, which has pavilions with restaurants, shops, entertainment, and cast members from 11 countries. Some of the pavilions have rides, too.
While Covington’s Mainstrasse Village does not have theme park rides, it does have restaurants from different countries.
World Showcase’s pavilions represent Morocco, Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Norway, China, Japan, Mexico, Canada, and the United States. At Epcot, you can eat breakfast in France, lunch in Japan, and dinner in Mexico.
The village has restaurants from six countries represented at Epcot. Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Mexico, and the United States are represented at Mainstrasse Village. Though France is not represented at Mainstrasse Village, it has a Cajun restaurant. Cajuns are largely descended from France, and it reflects in their cooking.
Mainstrasse Village has a strong German influence and features German architecture, specifically the Sixth Street promenade, the Carroll Chimes Bell Tower, and the Goose Girl Fountain. Germany is also represented by two restaurants in Mainstrasse Village.
Strasse Haus is a restaurant and bar that has German beer on tap and offers a few German-inspired dishes such as sauerkraut balls, soft-baked pretzels with beer cheese, and Reuben sandwiches. They also offer live music seven nights per week.
Wunderbar Covington is another restaurant and bar with some German-inspired offerings. Their menu includes giant pretzels, beer cheese, Spundeka cheese, burgers, brats, metts, Reuben sandwiches, sauerkraut, and pierogis (though they originated in Poland before making it to Germany). They offer live music on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Thursday, they host karaoke.
Italy is represented by Goodfellas Pizzeria. The pizzeria offers New York-style pizza, salads, breadsticks, meatballs, sun-dried tomato bread, pesto bread, calzones, meatball sub sandwiches, cannoli, and cookies. They are also home to Wiseguy Lounge which offers bourbon, beer, and cocktails. Though they do not currently have Italian wine or beer, they have liqueurs from Italy, such as limoncello.
Additional Italian representation comes from Mama’s On Main, an Italian restaurant. It offers Italian appetizers, pasta, meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. They have desserts, too.
Mac’s Pizza Pub may not sound like a very Italian name, but the establishment represents Italian cuisine because pizza is in their name. They offer a large variety of dishes, most of which are not Italian. However, they serve salads and Italian and meatball sub sandwiches. Their pub offers prosecco from Italy.
The United Kingdom is represented by Cock and Bull Public House, a British-inspired restaurant and bar. Their menu is mostly American but includes British dishes, such as banger dip (a play on bangers and mash), fish and chips, and baked cod. The bar offers beer, bourbon, wine, tequila, and ales. They offer a few Irish libations, such as Guinness Irish Stout, Harp Irish Lager, and Smithwick’s Irish Amber. Technically speaking, Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom. Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday they offer live music.
Mexico is represented by Frida 602, an establishment that offers Mexican food and a tequila and mezcal bar that includes Mexican beer. The restaurant is themed after famous Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo. Their menu includes Latin street cuisine, and Mexican favorites such as burritos, quesadillas, and tacos.
Mexican Restaurante Y Taqueria El Valle Verde also represents Mexico. They offer a variety of Mexican dishes such as fajitas, burritos, and tacos. The establishment serves Mexican beer and tequila, too.
Japan is represented by Nagomi Japanese Restaurant. It is an authentic Japanese restaurant that offers sushi, sashimi, bento boxes, tempura, donburi, and more. They offer Japanese beer, sake, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Chako Bakery Cafe also represents Japan. The bakery offers Japanese cakes, sweets, slices of bread, parties, and cookies. They also offer a lunch menu. Chako offers baking classes and catering, too.
France is indirectly represented by Dee Felice Café. The Cajun restaurant serves escargot (French-prepared snails) and beef tournedos (a cut of beef similar to filet mignon) on its menu. They also serve étouffée and jambalaya, which are Cajun dishes with French names. The Cajun restaurant offers live music on Monday and a four-piece jazz ensemble on Friday and Saturday.
Mainstrasse Village has too many American restaurants to list them all. The village might be small, but you can eat food from Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the USA there.
