The City of Newport has ordered Diamond Debbie’s, a sports bar on Patterson Street, to close and the business to vacate “after determining the property to be a nuisance and a threat to public safety,” according to a city announcement released March 27.
“This action follows a sustained pattern of problematic activity associated with the premises that has negatively impacted surrounding residents and businesses,” the announcement continues. “Despite prior intervention, conditions did not improve.”
As a result, the city has condemned the building, and the business must cease operations and vacate immediately. Details about the “problematic activity” the city mentions were not given in the announcement.
