Following its rebranding from Eishaus earlier this year, The Hum announced its permanent closure on social media.

Located at 115 Park Place in Covington’s Roebling Pointe neighborhood, The Hum was originally established as Eishaus in 2020 by the father and daughter duo of Tom and Addie Von Der Benken.

Eishaus’ signature dish was Spaghettieis, a popular German ice cream dish that resembles a plate of spaghetti. The following year, the pair opened Frosthaus, a restaurant that served frozen cocktails and food.

In 2025, the Von Den Benken’s consolidated both businesses, rebranding them as The Hum. Despite initial success, the Von Den Benken family announced on Instagram that the business would close on Nov. 14 due to economic headwinds.

“Unfortunately, it’s a tough time in this industry. Despite our best efforts and with increased headwinds in front of us, we feel it’s time for the curtain to close while we can still celebrate this great experience,” read the post. “Our hearts are full of gratitude for everyone of you who walked through our doors through the years.”

Prior to its final day, The Hum will continue to host music trivia on Nov. 5 and karaoke on Nov. 8 and 9.
