Market Bar is now open at Ovation, the mixed-use waterfront development in Newport.
The announcement comes alongside the launch of its Entertainment Destination Center, which they are calling the EDC, a common consumption area (known more commonly in the region as designated open refreshment areas, or DORAs)
Market Bar, run by Pete Volker and Wayne Lin, has joined High Note as Ovation’s second bar concept. The venue features handcrafted cocktails, local craft beers, and a carefully selected wine list. Guests can also order sandwiches and other light snacks.
Located next to the MegaCorp Pavilion and the Homewood Suites by Hilton, Market Bar features indoor and outdoor seating with garage-style doors opening to a patio that faces the riverfront. It is open from 4 to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
“When we first visited Ovation, the energy was undeniable and the EDC designation will only amplify that feeling and create a seamless community experience,” Volker said in a news release. “Our vision is to add a vibrant, approachable bar where locals and visitors can enjoy handcrafted cocktails and soak in the atmosphere.”
The EDC, approved by Kentucky’s Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, allows guests to buy alcoholic drinks from participating venues and carry them within designated areas of Ovation. The open-container zone extends from Ovation Plaza, home to Market Bar and Homewood Suites, to The Boardwalk overlooking the riverfront.

Corporex is the development firm behind Ovation. “It sets the tone for a diverse mix of entertainment options that will continue to grow here.”
