Fort Mitchell-based Paul Hemmer Company announced that longtime president John Curtin will retire at the end of the year, concluding a 46-year career with the firm.

Curtin joined the company in 1979 and advanced through a variety of roles in leasing, property management, real estate, construction sales, client development, and executive leadership before being named president of Hemmer Construction Company. His last day will be Dec. 31, according to a news release.

Throughout his career, Curtin helped lead Hemmer’s expansion across the Midwest, overseeing major industrial, healthcare, and commercial projects. His work includes developments at Northern Kentucky Industrial Park, Thomas More Centre, Mazak Corporation’s Florence campus, Prologis sites, Airpark West, and the Freestore Foodbank Community Resource & Distribution Center.

Curtin also served as president of the Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky in 2018 and held prior board roles with the organization.

“John’s career reflects our company’s values: show passion, emphasize teamwork, raise expectations, value people, and embrace growth,” CEO Paul Hemmer Jr. said in the release. “He has played a vital role in many of the region’s landmark projects and has been instrumental in shaping the next generation of our leaders.”

Curtin will support a planned leadership transition through the end of 2025. Hemmer’s construction division leadership team will continue to manage active projects and client relationships without interruption.
