The Elusive Cow, located at 519 Fairfield Ave., is set to close after over 12 years in business.

The restaurant will close on May 25, according to a post on the owner’s Facebook page. The post cited inflation, rising operating costs, the closure of the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge over the winter and more as reasons for its impending closure.

“We hope that over these next few weeks that you will stop by and share one more meal with us. It’s been such a great honor and privilege to serve so many wonderful people over these past 12 1/2 years,” read the post. “Sure we weren’t always perfect, but we did our best to make sure that the food that you were spending your hard earned money was always delicious.”

The Elusive Cow is known for its sandwiches, salads, and appetizers, among other things.
