A lease has been executed that will allow a Publix, with an adjacent liquor store, to open in Hebron.
Jared Glover, Publix’s senior media relations manager, announced Thursday the store will be opening in the Shoppes at Hebron Pointe on the southwest corner of Williams Road and Worldwide Boulevard. In a statement provided to LINK nky, Glover said Publix was looking to bring competition into the local grocery market.
“We are always looking to bring the Publix difference to new communities and look forward to providing the Northern Kentucky region with the stellar customer service, quality products and friendliest associates they’ll grow to know and love,” he said.
According to Publix, the store will be more than 50,000 square feet and is expected to employ 140 people. Glover said an opening date had not yet been determined.
Rumors that a Publix could be opening at the site began earlier this year when the developer, Cincinnati-based Midland Atlantic Properties, sought a zone change that would allow for the store.
In August, Midland Atlantic presented plans to the Boone County Fiscal Court which showcased a 50,325-square-foot anchor grocery store, along with four smaller retail spaces ranging from 22,080 to 3,200 square feet. The plans outlined a 276-stall parking lot for the grocery store. In addition, a 3,195-square-foot drive-thru restaurant would be built next to the retail spaces.
Additionally, the plans also called for a 5,200-square-foot convenience store, an 8,400-square-foot retail store, and a 4,300-square-foot restaurant.
“We are extremely excited about the project and thrilled for both the community and Publix,” Midland Atlantic Development Manager Clayton Riney told LINK nky in a statement. “The Graves Road interchange is an important corridor for the community, and we look forward to working with Publix and Boone County to bring the Shoppes at Hebron Pointe to fruition.”
Midland Atlantic is also behind Cold Spring Pointe, a mixed-use development in Campbell County that’ll be anchored by a Publix. The development is currently under construction.
Currently, there are five Publix stores confirmed for the Northern Kentucky area: Hebron, Cold Spring, Florence, Union and Independence.
