Mazak, a manufacturer of advanced tools, automation systems and production support software, celebrated its 50th anniversary on Oct. 31.

The company has a notable footprint in Northern Kentucky with its iSMART Factory, a facility in Florence that supports a workforce of more than 600 employees. Mazak first opened the facility in 1974 and has since expanded it to 20 times its original size.

The Florence facility produces over 70 turning center models, multi-tasking machines and vertical machining centers, including 5-axis models, hybrid additive processing machines and Swiss turning machines.

“We’re honored to make our corporate home here in Kentucky and to participate in the economic vitality of the state,” Mazak Corporation President Dan Janka said in a press release. “This proclamation reinforces our enduring commitment to the manufacturing industry and our focus on sustained growth.”

In addition, the Kenton County Fiscal Court delivered a proclamation declaring Oct.31 Mazak Corporation’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Day. Kenton County Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann presented the proclamation to Janka at the iSMART Factory.
