Sweet Tooth Candies, a Newport staple, announced via Facebook it is in search of a new location.
The Facebook post named environmental and economic factors as the reasons for the move.
“We still hope to maintain operations in Newport, but we won’t be able to continue at our current location,” the Facebook post reads. “Today, we’re beginning our search for a new store front and factory.”
Sweet Tooth Candies is located at 125 W 11th Street in Newport.
Robert Schneider established Sweet Tooth Candies in Newport in 1972. Schneider also founded Schneider’s Sweet Shop in Bellevue in 1939. Schneider and his wife, Norma, operated Sweet Tooth Candies from 1972 until late 2020 when they sold it.
Sweet Tooth Candies now belongs to Robert Baker and the owners of Pompilios: Mike Mazzei, Joe Bristow and Larry Geiger.
