The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments, or OKI, which is responsible for recommending infrastructural changes in the tri-state area, released its annual report for 2023 this week.
The release comes on the heels of the approval of OKI’s 2050 Metropolitan Transit Plan, which projects the region’s transit needs for the next quarter century.
“OKI staff held extensive sessions involving the public and our stakeholders,” writes Gary Moore, OKI’s president and the Boone County judge/executive, in the 2023 report’s introduction. “These sessions’ participants suggested major themes for the update. Themes included offering more transportation and housing options; being mindful of equity; addressing food waste; evaluating climate change; and considering 21st century economic development strategies.”
